So No…sorry Mo-vember has ended. Four Contemporary Urban Centre staff have been displaying some of the most fetching moustaches the city has seen since Ian Rush and John Aldridge.

Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer. We’ve raised close to £600 so far and are celebrating by having fluff-free lips for December…

There’s no doubt we’ve all looked ridiculous over the last month so thanks to all the customers and clients who kept a straight face when chatting to us. Most of all, thanks to all the good folks who have sponsored us. Your support is hugely appreciated and has gone to an amazing cause…

Here are some pics of the Contemporary Urban Centre Mo’ Bros:

Blogs are generally best suited for up-to-the-minute posts. Here at Contemporary Urban Centre however we like to buck trends. So, with that in mind, here are a few images I’ve extracted from my phone from a few weeks back at the Home Grown Exhibition Launch @ Urbis. It may have been a while ago but I think it’s worth showing Jehst’s amazing ‘Falling Down’ cover art up close and a Contemporary Urban Centre rep getting a cheesy shot with the High Plains Drifter himself.

The exhibition is well worth seeing. It’s packed with rare UK hip hop artifacts ranging from original album artworks, rhyme books from underground stalwarts such as Junior Disprol and stacks of exclusive audio for you to pull up a perch and listen too. Well worth seeing what UK hip-hop had to offer before the likes of Chipmunk and NDubz got in on the act.

Click here for more info about the exhibition…

H2Dance, the acclaimed Norwegian/Swedish dance company, are presenting their amazing ‘To Die For’ production. It’s part of the NICE festival, celebrating Nordic arts and culture, and will take place on 28th November at our venue.

Check the YouTube clip here for an idea of what to expect from this darkly humorous, rather inventive dance production…some surprises later on in the clip!
